Dimitri’s work is often characterized by gestural brush-strokes or mark-making, and the impression of spontaneity evokes the aim to make art that while abstract was also expressive or emotional in its effect.
Often large in scale, his work is at times intense, spontaneous, and deeply expressive, with more contemplative, presenting large fields of colour that border on the sublime.
His canvas’ invite artist and viewer to meet. While he expresses emotions and conveys a sense of place in the work, the viewer’s perception is the final component in the mix.
